Gontse Banda, a 22-year-old student at the University of South Africa pursuing a bachelor’s degree in education with a focus on languages, including English, joined help2read in 2022 after encountering a Facebook post about an opportunity to serve as a literacy tutor. Driven by a passion for community impact and a desire to enhance children’s reading proficiency, Gontse eagerly pursued the position.

As an aspiring pedagogical practitioner, Gontse embraces her role within Help2read as an opportunity to immerse herself in the school environment and apply her academic knowledge in a practical setting. Recognizing the importance of catering to individual learning needs, she incorporates a variety of learning styles to support the development of children’s vocabulary and reading fluency.
