LYNN CUMPSTY-STEYN
CEO
Lynn obtained her HDE in Junior Remedial teaching in 1980. Since qualifying as a teacher, she has continued studying part-time and has a BA Honours degree in Psychology and a Masters degree in Education. Lynn has spent most of her career working with Universities and NGOs outside of the formal education sector. She is a passionate problem-solver, reflective practitioner and a zealous Early Childhood Education activist. Early Literacy and Numeracy and the development of critical thinking skills in children are her passion as is learning through play. Lynn has a keen interest in formal assessment, Monitoring and Evaluation but also values story-telling and other qualitative measures to provide evidence of programme success. Lynn is an accomplished public speaker.
MELODY VOLMINK
Programme Manager
Melody joined the help2read team in 2009 after working for 15 years in the private sector as an administrator. Melody initially worked as a help2read Support Worker, but later became the Training & Resources Coordinator. She now serves as our Programme Manager. Melody has a diploma in Administration and has completed a short course in Community Development.

I am Kedibone Patricia Masemulu, a Program Coordinator and my qualification is BA in Social Work obtained at UNISA. I started with community work in 2007 as a community developer and progressed as a Social Auxiliary worker running community projects with women and children. Eventually, in 2009 I become a Social Worker who worked with Families and children doing statutory work.

Nondumiso Mzamo, Programme Coordinator at Help2Read for Khayelitsha and Mitchell’s Plain Areas. I have previously worked as a library assistant at Sivuyseni Primary School, and as Library Support Officer for The Bookery. I am a lover of books and stories. In my spare time I facilitate a community reading club.

Elizabeth started with help2read in 2017, after working in financial administration for 4.5 years and data management and reporting for 2 years. She completed her BCom Financial Management degree in 2019 and is passionate about financial reporting, data analysis and systems design.

Reading Parents Programme Coordinator (Western Cape)
Armed with a love for books and a passion for working with children I joined help2read as a literacy tutor in 2018. I am currently the Western Cape Area supervisor and I am in the process of completing a yearlong course in Project Management. As a problem solver it’s an absolute privilege to assist the learners and tutors with everyday challenges they experience within the programme.

I joined the help2read team in 2020 as the Programme Coordinator. I was involved in the Ravensmead Holiday Club for 11 years. I completed my diploma in nursing as an enrolled nurse in 2016. I have worked as a library assistant for the City of Cape Town and I have also been a team leader for them in the sport and recreation department. I am passionate about working with children, youth, and the elderly.
LERATO MONEDI
Business Development Manager
Lerato Monedi is a business development manager who has worked in NGOs for 7 years. Her career began with creating sports programs and coaching when she completed her studies in Sports Management. After a brief position at an NGO for sports development, she was inspired to change course and eventually transitioned to marketing and fundraising for NGOs initially working as a face-to-face fundraiser. Lerato is a firm believer in seizing every chance you get to forge your own path in life. She enjoys her job as a Business Development Manager at help2read where she is in charge of establishing sustainable funding strategies, managing funding opportunities, communications, and general marketing.
NAAZLI KHAN

My name is Naazli Khan. I joined the Help2Read program in 2021 as a Literacy Tutor. Since then, I have progressively assumed more significant responsibilities, including serving as a Senior Literacy Tutor to taking on the role of a Program Coordinator. Currently, I hold the position of Finance and Administration Assistant as I am simultaneously pursuing my BCompt Financial Accounting degree online with UNISA. My determination and resourcefulness drive me, and I firmly believe in the power of hard work and dedication to achieve remarkable results.

My name is Lehlabile Shokoane , I joined help2read in 2020 as a Literacy Tutor and have since taken on the role of Programme Lead in Gauteng. I am currently studying towards a Bachelor of Education in the Intermediate Phase as it has always been my passion to work with children and help them reach their full potential.
