A Great Big Give is helping thousands of South African primary schools receive the gift of reading
02 February, 2016
help2read’s 2015 Big Give Christmas Challenge proved to be a huge success, setting the stage for the start of a phenomenal 10th anniversary year of impact in 2016. When all the contributions were counted, our 2015 Big Give challenge surpassed 2014 to reach its target mark, raising a total of £80,000 included Charity Champion support from the Waterloo Foundation. This means that we will be able to make an even greater big difference in the lives of many more thousands of South African primary children in the coming year.
The Christmas Challenge is all about remembering what we can give to improve the lives of others. As the UK’s biggest online match funding campaign, it creates a fantastic opportunity for UK-registered charities to engage their supporters and make sure all their donations are doubled in value. Over the last three years help2read has successfully grown the number of contributions it has received and we have to thank you all for participating in our campaign and making it a success.
Dr Seuss was right when he said “the more that you read, the more things you will know. The more you learn, the more places you’ll go”. Our learners have discovered new worlds of hope and opportunity and there are more who are soon to follow in these footsteps, thanks to you and your help.
The gift of reading is a priceless one that continues throughout the course of a life, changing its possibilities forever. We want to thank everyone who participated in the campaign and look forward to reaching our goals in 2016.
