#100WordsWall: Mandela Day & Overcoming Challenges
17 July, 2018
Being 100 years since the birth of Nelson Mandela, this Mandela Day is an exceptionally special one. As part of the celebrations, we invited our Reading Helpers and learners to reflect on their progress and write down words that signify what they’ve learnt during the reading sessions. Individual words were signed by Reading Helpers and learners and displayed on the #HundredWordsWall in the reading space of participating schools.
During the school holidays, we invited high school learners and Varsity College B ED students to turn the words into books, forming a collection of stories, poems and works of art that share the successes that have come out of challenging experiences.
The beautifully crafted books will be handed over to the participating schools on Mandela Day and during the course of the week.
